Hello My Wonderful Class,
I'm so sorry I wasn't there today. I had a really bad allergic reaction to something and ended up in the hospital :(
But, I'm a lot better now and am very excited to be meeting you at 8:15am on Brimorton near Markham for our "Dance To School Wednesday."
Since we didn't get to make our own dance, I've decided that we can do a mashup of Gangham Style / Harlem Shake / Freestyle Dance to "Moves Like Jagger" I'll bring a camera so we can take pictures and maybe video :)
I hope you were good today for Mr. Hoskins and Mrs Salhawala.
See you tomorrow!
Ms. Pike :)

Math Problem
Hello!
Just a friendly reminder of our test on Volume tomorrow. Most of the questions are a "spin" on ones that you have already done. Look back at your feedback to see how you can improve.
Here is the math question that we did today. It is due tomorrow.
Ms. Pike :)
The movie theater got into a little bit of trouble because they were not putting enough popcorn into the boxes. They advertised that each box of popcorn holds 750cm3 of popcorn. It turned out that it wasn't holding that much but slightly less. Design 2 rectangular boxes for the theater that can meet their advertised offer. List some reasons why each box is suitable for their needs. (Do not list "can hold 750cm3 of popcorn")

We Can Skate!
Over the past 3 weeks our class was privileged to be part of the RBC learn to skate program sponsored in part by the City of Toronto and the TDSB.
Friday was our last session and I can not tell you how proud I am of our class! They truly took the opportunity that they were given and enjoyed every minute of it. I was amazed at how so many of you were so hesitant that first week, and by week three you were skating along without a care in the world.
We were also lucky enough to meet Cheryl Pounder, a two time Olympic gold medalist with the Canadian Woman's Hockey Team. She truly was inspirational to hear, and it was neat to get her autograph and see her in person.
The Toronto Sun also came and interviewed Jeet about his thoughts on the skating program. You can see the video and the article here:

Below are some pictures of us skating this week.
I also want to applaud you all on your behavior when we were at the rink. You were very polite, respectful, and represented Bellmere well.
Way to go P2!
Thanks again to RBC, The City of Toronto, Ms. Legassie, Ms. Klipa and the TDSB for making this happen for us.

I'm So Sorry!
Hello my cupcakes, pumpkins, cheese doodles and peanut gallery.
I AM SO SORRY! I got busy marking your work yesterday afternoon and totally forgot to put the question up on the blog :(
So, if you do not have it done, you have an extension until Friday.
Here is the question:
A company wants you to design a box for their new cricket gear. It must be a rectangular box with a volume of 480cm3. Create three examples for them to choose from. Justify why you think that one box is the best.

Math Problem
Here is the problem from today. Just in case you need it to finish your homework.
Ms Pike :)
Mr. Humphrey is trying to build the garden that the eco-team planned for the school. He knows the area of the garden is 50m2 and that one side of the garden should be 25m. How long should he cut the wood for the other side of the garden? How much wood does he need in total?

Letter Writing
Hello P2!
We are well on our way in writing our persuasive letters to Ace, the Toronto Blue Jays mascot to convince him what a healthy, active school Bellmere is, and that he deserves to visit us!
Here are some tools which will help you write your rough draft of your letter. Remember - You only need to write the draft tonight using ideas from your idea web. We will revise, edit and publish in class.
Happy Persuading!
Ms. Pike & Mr. Chen
